HENRY MITCHELL

Henry Mitchell  born abt. 1745 is believed to have been born in Virginia. He was there in 1765 according to census records of Marion Co. Ga. which says Drury Mitchell his son was born there.He was also a Rev. War Soldier as listed on the records below.He married Sarah Maderias around 1764 according to birth dates. The Maderias family also lived in Virginia.It is believed during the war he moved his family  to N.C. area for a while .They were there for the birth of his last know child Susannah Sukey Mitchell who was born in 1777. He then Moved from N.C. to S.C. and then to the Georgia area in the late 1790's.The Mitchell family lived around the Tobias Lassiter family in Green Co. Ga. in the early 1800's . At around 1805 the Henry Mitchell fAmily moved to Jones County Georgia (formally Baldwin). There Henry put up a grist mill in the northwest corner of Jones Co. area called Cornucopia ,and ground corn for the Indians and settlers. Henry's family was part of the County Line Primitive Baptist Church from March 17th 1810 until Nov. 14th 1812. On Feb 16th 1813 New Hope (Caney Creek) Church was organized. Henry  and Sarah along with eighteen other settlers banded themselves under the constitution . New Hope Was constituted upon the old line Primitive Baptist Principles belief and Bible Doctrines.Sarah Mitchell Is believed to have died before 1819 , listed on the deed below henry left all he had to his son Robert Maderias John Mitchell date being June 3rd 1819. Henry is believed to have died after getting  land in Carroll Co Ga. in 1827. Both Henry and Sarah are believed to be buried at New Hope Church in Jones County Georgia. The Primitive Baptist were know to leave large rocks to mark their graves.
