JONES COUNTY MITCHELL'S
Henry Mitchell born about 1745 died about 1827 in Jones County Ga. He married Sarah Maderias born about 1745 died before 1819. At this time Henry's parents are unknown, .Sarah's are believed to be John Mederis and Rachael Davis, But this also is not a sure thing .But we do have a lot of information along with the fact that the name Maderias was not a common name in the 1700's , So those who had it were more than likely kin. One point of interest in this is that Henry and Sarah had a son named Robert Maderias John Mitchell, his nick name was ricey. What draws interest to this that John and Rachel Mederis had a son named Rice. Also my ggreat grandfather was named Ricey Maderias John Mitchell in the 1870 census of Butler County Alabama he was called Rice Mitchell. We also know that Drury Mitchell son of Henry and Sarah Mitchell was born in Virginia about 1765 according to the 1850 Marion County Georgia census. So this puts the Mitchell's and the Maderias family living in the same area and in the same time period.
The Mitchell Family lived in several Counties of Georgia before coming to Jones County. Census have them in Green County Georgia around 1800, Green county is where some of the Mitchell family members were married. Drury Mitchell married Rhoda Lassiter daughter of Tobias Lassiter in green county georgia. Also Sterling mitchell married Betsy Brewer and Susannah Mitchell married Henry Brewer there.
Around 1805 the Mitchell's moved to Jones County Georgia.
